Synopsis

Filmed by the first team of women trained in filmmaking in rural Zambia, Hidden truth is a candid and intimate portrayal of effects of domestic violence on women and children in samfeya, a remote district of northern Zambia. The documentary is told through the voices of five women, all survivors of domestic violence. They provide a moving account of the emotional and physical trauma they have suffered physical and call for legislation protecting victims of domestic abuse. In a country where more than half of women over the age of 15 have suffered physical abuse, hidden truth provides insight into a world that is rarely exposed.
